This past week in my home felt like complete chaos.
A seven-day walk through Holy Week —
trying not to fall through the cracks of everyday life.
We had birthdays, backaches, clogged drains,
and even some basement flooding.
And on top of all that…
the normal, daily rhythm of being a mom and a wife,
while also preparing for my favorite holiday — Easter.
There were so many moments I just wanted to sit down and breathe. To be still long enough to really take in what this week means… what it was building toward.
But as any parent knows, life doesn't always pause for reflection.
So what do we do in those moments? Do we forget the sacred and just push through the stress?
No… not me.
Because that's not what Jesus did —
and I'm following His lead.
My week was hard…
but not even close to what His was.
Today isn't about me.— Lisa
Today is about love in action.
This morning, I found myself watching Joyce Meyer's message "What About Me?" on my iPad — while washing dishes, making mashed potatoes, and trying to figure out why our AC wasn't working.
For just a moment, my mind drifted into that familiar place…
"Why me?"
But just as quickly, the Holy Spirit gently reminded me:
No one is promised easy. And today isn't about me. Today is about love in action.
And sometimes, that love looks like tending to your home… showing up for your family… and serving in the quiet, unseen ways.
That is love in its purest form.
And maybe… that's where we find Him most.
My grace is sufficient for you,
for my power is made perfect in weakness.
Not in perfect stillness.
Not in everything going right.
But right here —
in the middle of the mess…
holding onto peace anyway.
Maybe we don't find Him despite the chaos. Maybe we find Him because of it. And that peace we've been chasing? It was never waiting at the end of the to-do list. It was here all along — between the dishes and the dirt.
I hope this Easter, wherever you are — whether your house is spotless or a beautiful disaster — you give yourself permission to feel His presence right in the middle of it. Not because you earned a quiet moment. But because He meets you exactly where you are. Mess and all.
With love and open hands,
Lisa
